Welcome to the Conference-Wiki of berlin in august
Tom Steinberg from the UK's mySociety.org and Christoph Dowe from politik-digital.de would like to invite you to a highly informal meeting of the best of European e-democracy practitioners in Berlin on Monday, 13th of August and Tuesday, 14th of August 2007. The goal is to get together a few people from across Europe who actually want to see real online democracy projects happen in their lifetimes, not just talk about them.
There will be no fixed pre-written agenda for the conference, it will be run as an 'unconference'. There's no official budget, just a little Help from the Hertie School of Governance and the British Council Germany. Please use this wiki to help make this event work as you'd like it to.
We would like to think with you about how to use the internet for better political communication between citizen and political institutions, and what tools could be built to help our democracies work better. Please add questions you'd like to see discussed in our Open Questions section.
This event is invite only, but we are still looking for suggestions of smart, interesting people to invite. The only real criteria is that they have the desire and the determination to get things built that actually help citizens, rather than just talking about how great it could be if someone else did it :)
